Chris according to Thom
Born into anonymity, Chris shot up to the dizzying heights of noticeability after being mistaken for Seth Cohen during a charity dinner. Several albums and a popular cable chat-show later, Chris gave up his glamorous lifestyle to retire to the Cotswolds and become a successful romance novelist. His first book, an 800-page love story about an orphan female farmhand living in the Loire Valley during the height of World War II, was received poorly by critics, many commenting on the lack of a back-story covering her late father’s days as a flower arranger.
Using the recycled pulp from the 10,000 unsold copies of ‘Flowering in the Autumn’, Chris then set about writing to people he admired, praising them for their work. Recipients of Chris’s letters included the Duchess of Cornwall, Sebastian Coe, Les Dennis and Jethro. After receiving a reply from the popular Irish comedian, Chris found the confidence to return to work. After a two week stint as a bedding sales assistant at a leading department store, he realised that Jethro’s advice regarded performing comedy rather than bedding sales causing him to choose to become a comedian instead. After mistaking The Metal Detector Club’s business card for a prostitute’s in a phone box, Chris was immediately hired into the club, taking the role of ‘Chief Meat Packer’. After the club’s re-structuring in early 2010, he then decided to join Thom & Graeme and do some comedy. Too right.
